A basin the majors drove past.
LGX Energy is an American oil developer operating in the Illinois Basin of southwestern Indiana. The company holds thousands of leased acres and more than 600 miles of seismic data, and produces from a field that has run continuously for over 25 years.
Its focus is shallow, low-cost vertical wells in a historically productive region that larger operators overlooked. Stacked-pay geology means a single leased position can hold more than one target formation, so the acreage keeps working past the first zone.
The bench of prospects LGX is drilling came out of modern 3D seismic rather than instinct. That is the argument in one line: proven geology, read with current tools.
Who is doing the talking.
Howard has spent decades in natural resources. He co-founded LGX Energy in 2021 to get back into oil, having earlier co-founded Cadence Resources, an oil and gas company that was acquired through a sale to an American exchange-listed buyer. He leads a team whose members have worked collectively across the Illinois and Michigan basins for generations.
